Post-Master’s Certificate: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

The post-master’s program at USI is for nurses currently holding an MSN who want to add a specialty. As a student in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program at USI, you’ll become an advanced clinician who will be able to provide psychiatric/mental health services to individuals across the lifespan. You’ll master a role that includes diagnosis, provision of therapies, and medication management for individuals with psychiatric/mental health problems. Health promotion, disease prevention and management of mental health symptoms along with family consultation and education are also included in the role. The MSN program focuses on legal, socioeconomic, political, cultural and ethical considerations of the population. There are a total of 26 credit hours in the specialty with additional direct clinical hours.
