Communal Studies Minor Overview

The communal studies minor at USI grows from the work of the Center for Communal Studies. Begun in 1976, the Center is a resource on communal groups across the world, past and present. By working toward the communal studies minor at USI, you'll be able to utilize the resources of the Center for Communal Studies, including the Communal Studies Collection at Rice Library, which has unsurpassed archival materials and images on more than 500 historic and contemporary communal groups.

You'll have a range of wonderful resources to draw upon for this one-of-a-kind minor. The proximity of New Harmony – one of the best-known communal experiments in the world – provides you with a unique resource for this course of study. The minor complements majors in the Colleges of Liberal Arts, Business and Health Sciences, and will prepare you for a career in education, health, archives and historic preservation, as well as for graduate study.
