World Languages and Cultures - Spanish Concentration Overview

Spanish is the second largest language in the United States, with more than 33 million speakers. World-wide, there are over 400 million Spanish speakers. A major in world languages and cultures provides you with advanced language proficiency and cultural skills for professional and academic careers. You can gain work experiences through internships in Spanish-speaking countries and in the U.S. Spanish courses at USI are taught by highly qualified Ph.D. faculty. In addition, you can practice your oral skills in the Miller Language Laboratory, staffed by native/near-native language tutors. USI offers international language events, guest speakers, language clubs and honor societies. USI Spanish students have received international internships and Fulbright scholarships to study in Spanish-speaking countries.
