USI Theatre begins 2019-20 season with "The Revolutionists"

University of Southern Indiana Theatre will open its 2019-20 season with the new comedy The Revolutionists, written by Lauren Gunderson. The production runs October 3-6 in the USI Performance Center located in University Center East on USI's campus.

Directed by Eric Altheide, associate professor of theatre, The Revolutionists tells the story of four real-life women who lived during the time of the French Revolution: Olympe de Gouges, Charlotte Corday, Marie Antoinette, and Marianne Angelle.  Despite its hilarity, the play focuses on themes that are still all too relevant for today's world - activism, violence, feminism, legacy, and the ever pressing question: how do we actually change the world?

Altheide will be joined by a design team including USI faculty member Paul Weimer as scenic designer; USI staff member Andy Hammond as technical designer; USI faculty member Shan Jensen as costume designer; USI student Eli Young as sound designer; USI student Rafael Gonzalez III as lighting designer; and USI student Jason Merslich as production stage manager.

The cast of The Revolutionists includes USI students Cheyenne Welte, Jesmelia Williams, Kaitlyn Kearschner, and Gabriella Rivera.

Tickets are $2 for USI students, $10 for USI employees, $4 for non-USI students (student ID required), $10 for seniors (60+), and $12 for adults. Shows start at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. for the Sunday matinee. To purchase tickets or for more information visit USI Theatre or call the box office at 812-465-1635.
