Spring USI Liberal Arts Faculty Colloquium Series to begin January 30

The University of Southern Indiana College of Liberal Arts will host its first Faculty Colloquia presentation of the Spring Semester from 1-2 p.m. Friday, January 30 in Kleymeyer Hall (LA0101), located in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Center. The event is open to the public at no charge.

Rosalie Moffett, Associate Professor of English, will present To Hear a War from Far Away: a Poetry Reading.

These poems seek to document the multifaceted ways that our sense of self and perspective are being impacted by experiencing the world via the infinite doomscroll. The speaker of these poems considers how her constant access to live streamed suffering and atrocity reconfigures the moments, intimacies and obligations of daily life as an American mother.

Later presentations will be given by the following faculty:

  • Dr. Urska Dobersek, Associate Professor of Psychology – 10:30-11:45 a.m. Thursday, February 12 in Rice Library 0017, Topic: TBD
  • Dr. Julie Eyink, Assistant Professor of Psychology – 1:30-2:45 p.m. Monday, March 23 in Kleymeyer Hall, Topic: TBD
  • Dr. Bryan Moore, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice – 10-11 a.m. Friday, April 17 in Rice Library 0017, Topic: TBD

Presentations and subsequent series are made possible by Liberal Arts Research Awards (LARA) Funding awarded through the College of Liberal Arts to USI and Dr. Kristina Baker, Colloquium Director and Assistant Professor of Psychology. For questions regarding the Colloquium Series, contact Baker at ktodorovic@usi.edu. Learn more about upcoming presentations on the website
