Congratulations to the 19 USI employees who have earned their degrees and will walk the stage at the 2025 Spring Commencement Ceremonies!

It was about tip-off of the USI Women’s Basketball WNIT second round match up against Campbell University. Liberty Arena, Home of the Screaming Eagles, was beginning to fill up fast. Fans filed into rows to find their seat for the exciting post-season game; the Arena buzzed with excitement.

What many attendees may have missed, however, were the quick actions of USI Public Safety, employees from Tri-State Orthopaedics, Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s officers and others who sprung into action to aid a fan experiencing a medical emergency.

When it comes to the health and wellbeing of USI students, the University has a plethora of programs, departments and individuals ready to help. To help USI employees share the mental health resources available to students, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) has introduced a new liaison program on campus.

The Teacher Education’s Literacy Center—located in Rice Library—has installed a new, innovative tool blending AI and human-in-the loop technology for students. Known as the Screagle Simulation, this tool creates authentic, challenging and dynamic interpersonal simulations and provides education students with hands-on, interactive experiences in a supportive and dynamic learning environment.  

As USI Women's Basketball continues its post-season run with the upcoming WNIT Super 16 round game on Thursday, March 27, University Strategic Communication has created fun stats cards featuring our student-athletes!

In an effort to bring awareness to the campus community about how Narcan can save lives, USI nursing students in the Population Focused Nursing Care class, taught by Dr. Ryan Butler, Associate Professor of Nursing, have worked with USI Public Safety to bring a Narcan box on campus and provide education on the use of the medication.

The Fall Festival main parade is fast approaching, and per tradition, USI will be a part of the annual event with a float celebrating the University. This year, Andy Hammond, Theater Technical Coordinator, is spearheading a group of USI employees and students to continue this tradition at the festival.

An annual fall USI event, the Wellness Fair is set to bring almost 60 vendors to campus for students, employees and retirees on Wednesday, September 25 in Carter Hall, located in UC West.

The first week of October is approaching, which means the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival is returning to west Franklin Street. The Fall Fest is also an amazing opportunity for USI organizations to raise money and connect with the greater Evansville community.
