Southern Indiana Dance Marathon (SIDM), a student organization at USI, is hosting a blood drive with Versiti Blood Center of Indiana from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 14 in Carter Hall. Versiti will donate $10 to SIDM for every blood donor (up to $500), to be used to host its annual Dance Marathon for Riley Children’s Foundation, with all funds benefiting Riley Hospital for Children.
During the USI Dance Marathon on Saturday, February 21, participants will be on their feet for 12 hours straight in support of Riley’s pediatric research, patient programs, maternity and newborn health, child life, social work and other vital family support programs.
Children being treated for cancer, premature infants and children having heart surgery need blood and platelets from donors of all types, especially type O. They rely on the generosity of donors who help ensure a safe, healthy blood supply.
Giving blood is a quick, simple way to help others. The donation process from the time you arrive to the time you leave is about an hour, but the actual donation time only takes eight to 10 minutes. Here’s how to have a great experience:
