Enrollment Verification

An Enrollment Verification is a printed document that includes formal verification of a student's enrollment status. This document may be used for a good student insurance discount, coverage on parents' insurance, potential employment, or other purposes.

USI participates in the National Student Clearinghouse, providing enrollment data that is accessible by various loan companies for the purpose of student loan deferments. If an enrollment verification is needed for another purpose, the student can initiate the release of their information by requesting an enrollment verification certificate.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 requires the written signature or electronic signature (myUSI password) of the student to release information pertaining to their academic records. Requesting an enrollment verification certificate "conveys consent" to the officials of the University of Southern Indiana to release your enrollment verification information.

Requesting an Enrollment Verification Certificate

Students may request an enrollment verification certificate and provide it to the insurance company or other recipient that needs proof of enrollment. Log in to myUSI with your username and password, then:

  • Click the Self Service app
  • Click Students
  • Click Enrollment Verification

Follow the on-screen instructions to request an enrollment certificate with the desired information. Options for the certificates are:

  • Auto Insurance - provides academic standing and GPA for current term
  • Complete - provides enrollment history for all terms attended, includes GPA and awarded degrees
  • Current Term Only - provides expected grad date, major/minor info, GPA, academic standing, degrees
  • Employment - provides enrollment history and degrees awarded
  • Health Insurance - provides current term enrollment with major/minor information, no GPA
  • Landlord - provides proof of enrollment, term dates and major/minor information
  • Loan Deferment - provides enrollment history without GPA, expected grad date

You may also view Enrollment Verification Status through your myUSI Self Service once you have submitted an online request for an enrollment verification certificate.

For verification that is not available with one of the options listed above or to complete paperwork with enrollment information, the student can use the Enrollment Verification request form. This option is applicable if an enrollment verification is needing for a pending degree, or if verification of enrollment is needed prior to the start of a term.

Employers, loan companies, and others needing proof of enrollment or verification of degree completion should contact the National Student Clearinghouse directly at www.enrollmentverify.org or www.degreeverify.org respectively.
