Peer Advisors

What are the Peer Advisors?

Peer Advisors are current USI students available to help students during their college journey. They are trained to on how to use DegreeWorks, Schedule Planner, and other academic tools.

What can the Peer Advisors help me with?

Peer Advisors can help with a variety of issues and questions including: 

  • Scheduling advising appointments
  • Understanding DegreeWorks
  • Picking Core 39 courses
  • Creating semester plans to be approved by a professional advisor
  • Completing paperwork like Change of Academic Program or Add/Drop forms
  • Building course schedules or making class changes
  • Answering questions about being a student at USI

When can I meet with a Peer Advisor?

You can meet with a Peer Advisor Monday-Friday from 8 am - 4:30 pm depending on their weekly availability.

Can I schedule an appointment?

Yes! You can schedule a meeting with a Peer Advisor by contacting the advising center. Many students meet with a Peer Advisor to create semester plans and register for classes.

Be a Peer Advisor

Being a Peer Advisor is much more than being a student worker for the Advising Centers. You are trained to assist students in various advising related situations ranging from understanding their DegreeWorks to helping them pick out courses for their major during registration. Due to this training, you gain valuable experience that future employers that future employers will look for on your resume.
