University Web and Digital Content department uses Umbraco as our content management system (CMS) for the USI Website. An editors manual is linked on this page for a high-level overview of the system for those interested.
We've developed standardized, consistent looking templates for Colleges and non-academic departments.
We've created a library of campus images cropped for headers, squares, and horizontal/vertical photos for content. To access, go to the "Public" folder in the Media section. If you don't have access, email webserv@usi.edu to request access to the folder.
If you have photos you want to crop and size for use on the website, we've prepared some guidelines below. Remember to use 72 ppi (pixels per inch) for resolution, and if possible, run the image through an image compressor to trim the download size - our visitors will appreciate the faster load time and low data use.
For academic College Departments and Subpages
For non-college Department Homepages and Subpages
General sizing guide for square cropped images is 600 px.
Images are sized at a 16:9 ratio, for example: 550 x 309px.
Square cropped at 400px; also be sure to leave a text-free buffer around the edge of the image to ensure best visibility.
