Before you explore the 19th-century history, it helps to understand New Harmony as it exists now: a small Indiana town that's also a National Historic Landmark, a place where residents live alongside preserved history, where contemporary architecture sits next to Harmonist brick buildings and where preservation work continues today.

Our 12-minute orientation film, Utopia: The New Harmony Experience, introduces you to contemporary New Harmony. While the film provides a brief overview of the town's history, it's really about the town today and what makes this place unique as both a historic site and a living community.
