Course: CMST 107 Introduction to Interpersonal Communication
Topic: Listening
Notes: It is a large lecture class (with approximately 113 students). It is an introduction course that meets the Core requirements. I have lecture slides, video clips, and in-class discussion/activities.

Course: POLS 332 Statistics for Political Science
Topics: Difference of means testing
Notes: This is 100% flipped class. As such, if someone were to come observe, they may or may not see much. Sometimes I am very active and the students have lots of questions and an observer would see me interacting/coaching regularly. Sometimes, the students “get it” on their own and my might just respond to a few questions in which time the observer would just see me sitting up front or walking around. You never know. Under neither circumstance would they see a lot of formal “teaching.”

Topic: "The American Society: Families and Households" or "Group Influences on Consumer Behavior"
Notes: This is a core marketing class that does involve quite a bit of lecturing but also interactive elements including group work and discussions.

Course: SOCW 222 Social Welfare
Topic: Social Welfare Issues in the Great Depression
Notes: This will be a short lecture followed up by an in class activity that helps to bring the material to life.

  • Monday, February 19, 1:30-4:20 pm: Rob Millard-Mendez, ART351 Woodworking. Note: If you have never been to an art critique, this will be an interesting event to attend.
  • Tuesday, February 20 or Thursday, February 22, 9-10:30 am and 1:30-2:45 pm: Jill Oeding, BLAW 263 Legal Environment of Business. Note: I will use the Socratic method of teaching, by calling on students to stimulate critical thinking, problem-solving, courage, and confidence.
  • Wednesday, February 21, 9-9:50 am: Rob Carroll, ED 206 Intro To Exceptionalities. Note: Focus on OHI/DD. There is a possibility of a guest speaker (talk show style).
  • Friday, February 23, 12-12:50 pm: Kent Scheller, PHYS 101 Intro to Physical Science. Note: Large lecture course with demos and application to everyday experience.
