At the University of Southern Indiana, we are fully committed to helping you transition seamlessly so you can stay on track with your education journey. We’ve designed this dedicated page specifically for you to explore our programs, access resources, learn about credit transfers and continue your education with minimal interruption.
If you meet the following criteria, we encourage you to apply to the Honors Program! Students from all majors are welcome.
High school GPA of 3.5 or higher
Students with a GPA close to 3.5 are also encouraged to apply and may be granted conditional admittance
Completion of at least 15 credit hours (at USI or another institution)
Cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher
If you’ve taken Honors courses at another college or university, your Honors credits may transfer. Please email the Honors Program to inquire!
To earn the University Honors Scholar Diploma and complete the Honors Program, students must meet the following requirements:
Take 7 classes for Honors credit, including:
One Honors Seminar class
One Honors Capstone contract, added to a 300- or 400-level course in your major or minor
Biology majors must contract an additional 300- or 400-level course in the major (not the synthesis class)
Earn a grade of A or B in each Honors course to receive Honors credit
Students must maintain a 3.4 cumulative GPA
If GPA falls below the minimum:
Student is placed on probation for one semester
If GPA is not raised to the minimum by the end of that semester, the student will be dismissed from the program
Students must earn 3 activity points each semester
If a student earns fewer than 3 points, they will be placed on points probation
While on probation, students must earn 4 activity points the next semester
Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the program
