Student Conduct Process

Mission Statement

The goals of the student conduct process for Housing and Residence Life and USI align with the goals outlined in USI’s Student Rights and Responsibilities: A Code of Student Behavior.

Those goals are as such:

  1. To provide for the education and personal growth of the student;
  2. To provide for fair inquiries concerning alleged violations of the Student Rights and Responsibilities: A Code of Student Behavior;
  3. To determine through fair procedures whether or not any individual student has actually violated a regulation in the Student Rights and Responsibilities: A Code of Student Behavior;
  4. To allow for consideration of extenuating or mitigating factors where a violation has been found to exist; and
  5. To determine a conflict resolution that will be appropriate and will also help the student involved make a positive contribution to both the HRL community and University community.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

What is FERPA?
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), also known as the Buckley Amendment, is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records (those records, files, documents, and other materials that contain information directly related to a student, and are maintained by an educational agency or institution or by any person acting for such agency or institution). FERPA applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the Department of Education. For more information about FERPA, please visit the Registrar website.
