Pilot Program - Tuition Waiver for Part-time Benefit Eligible Employees (50% - 74%)

Benefits:

Part-time benefit eligible employees (50% - 74%) are already eligible for the following benefits as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Policy C.1 Benefit Programs and Eligibility.

  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Recreation, Fitness, & Wellness Center
  • Supplemental Retirement Plans
  • Defined Contribution Retirement Plan (After 1 year waiting period.)

To help with recruitment of open positions, effective 9/1/2023, part-time benefit eligible employees (50% - 74%) will be eligible for full fee waiver for credit courses for the EMPLOYEE ONLY as listed below:

  • A waiver of fees (as listed in the University Handbook, Policy C.11 Fee Waiver Policy,) for undergraduate and graduate courses. 
  • The fee waiver applies to not more than 7 credit hours per academic year.

Eligibility:

Current part-time benefit eligible employees (50% -74%) as of August 1, 2023. Temporarily funded positions are not eligible. (Admin and Faculty positions funded less than two consecutive years and support staff six months or less.)

Requests to convert a student work or graduate assistant line to a part-time benefit eligible position (50% - 74%) must be approved by Provost/VP, VP Finance and Administration, and Executive Director, HR or Assistant Director, Human Resources that meet at least one the following criteria.

  • More than one failed full time job search for the same ongoing open position.
  • Failed job search for the position where proof of active recruitment occurred. Search had to be posted for a minimum 6 months.
  • At least 40% full time and part time benefits eligible (50% - 74%) positions in the department are vacant or have new hires with a start date of the last 12 months.
