The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) relies upon the work of peer reviewers for its accrediting activities. These volunteers generously share their knowledge and experience to assure and advance institutional quality.
The Commission maintains a Peer Review Corps of approximately 1,300 faculty and administrators from institutions within the nineteen state North Central region. The peer reviewers play an incredibly important role in all stages of the accreditation process. They are responsible for assuring that an institution is complying with the accreditation criteria as well as for helping an institution advance within the context of its own mission.
Members of the Peer Review Corps serve as agents of the Commission in its evaluation and decision-making processes for AQIP, PEAQ, and the Program for Seeking Initial Status. In general, the groups within the Peer Review Corps include
