2025-2026 Important Dates

For specific hours for the HRL office, Community Center and C-Store during holidays, days with no classes and other University closings, please visit Housing and Residence Life. The website is updated regularly to reflect special hours.

2025

  • May 9 - Last day of spring 2025 semester; University housing closes to residents; residents must move out by 6 p.m. unless approved to stay late or have a completed summer contract
  • May 9 - Deadline for new incoming freshmen and transfers to complete contract and roommate groups to participate in May room selection
  • Mid to Late May - Room selection for new incoming freshmen and transfers; select a bed space during assigned appointment time online
  • May 26 - Memorial Day - USI closed, No classes
  • June 1 - Deadline to cancel 2025-2026 housing contract without penalty
  • June 19 - Juneteenth - USI closed, No classes
  • July 4 - Fourth of July - USI closed, No classes
  • July 7 - (4:30 p.m. Central Time) Students who participated in room selection will receive a confirmation of housing assignment and roommate information no later than July 7. Those who did not participate in room selection will be notified as assignments are made.
  • July 22 - (4:30 p.m. Central Time) Move-In Timeslot Selection opens; sign up form to reserve move-in date and time available on the Housing Portal
  • August 9-10 - Early move-in for approved students. Early move-in is for students who need to move in early for a University-sponsored activity or program. Students will sign up online for a move-in time.
  • August 12 - Move-in for new students attending orientation on August 13. Students will sign up online for a move-in time.
  • August 13 - Housing check in for TLC students, new incoming freshmen and new transfer students. Students will sign up online for a move-in day and time based on their classification.
  • August 14 - Housing check in for new incoming freshmen and new transfer students. Students will sign up online for a move-in day and time based on their classification.
  • August 15-16 - Housing check in for returning students and those unable to move in August 13-14. Students will sign up online for a move-in day and time based on their classification.
  • August 18 - First day of fall semester
  • September 1 - Labor Day - USI closed, No classes
  • September 9 - Fall Engaged Learning Day, No classes
  • October 6-7 - Fall Break - No classes; students do not have to leave housing during fall break
  • November 26-30 - Thanksgiving Break - USI closed, No classes; students do not have to leave housing during this break
  • December 5 - Last day to request to stay late or stay over Winter Break. If approved to stay over Winter Break, residents must sign a separate Break Housing Contract and pay additional fees. 
  • December 12 - University housing closes to residents for Winter Break; residents must leave by 6 p.m. unless approved to stay late or stay over break
  • December 23-January 4 - Winter Break - USI closed including the HRL office, Community Center and C-Store

2026

  • January 9 - Housing residents can return to campus on or after this date
  • January 12 - Spring semester begins
  • January 19 - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, No classes
  • Mid-February - Deadline for returning residents to contract and create roommate groups to participate in returner room selection for 2026-2027 
  • Late February - Room selection for returning residents for 2026-2027
  • March 9-13 - Spring Break - Students do not have to leave housing during spring break
  • March 31 - Spring Engaged Learning Day, No classes
  • Early April - Housing contract for summer available on the Housing Portal
  • April 3 - University Holiday - USI closed, No classes
  • April 4 - HRL office, Community Center and C-Store closed
  • Late April - Deadline to apply to have a pet live on campus for 2026-2027
  • May 8 - Last day of spring 2026 semester; University housing closes to residents; residents must move out by 6 p.m. unless approved to stay late or have a completed summer contract
  • May 25 - Memorial Day - USI closed, No classes
  • June 1 - Deadline to cancel 2026-2027 housing contract without penalty
  • June 19 - Juneteenth - USI closed, No classes
  • July 3 - Fourth of July (observed) - USI closed, No classes
