A+: Student Art in Faculty Collections, 2012
The summer exhibition at the Kenneth P. McCutchan Art Center/Palmina F. and Stephen S. Pace Galleries is entitled, A+: Student Art in Faculty Collections, an interesting variation on alumni art exhibits. Student art work from the collections of Michael Aakhus, Sarah Bielski, Joan deJong, Lenny Dowhie (emeritus), Matthew Graham, David Huebner, Andrew Kosten, Rob Millard-Mendez, Virginia Poston, Margaret Skoglund, Virginia Thomas, Katie Waters, and the Art Department itself is on display May 24 – August 13, 2012. The exhibit features the artwork of 92 artists who graduated from or studied at the University of Southern Indiana in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s, as well as students from other four-year institutions. The drawings, prints, paintings, sculptures, ceramic works, woodworking, photographs, and mixed media artworks were purchased, traded, or kept by USI art faculty and staff members while the artists were students – a real testament to their creativity and emerging artistic visions. Many of these art alums have gone on to great success in the field of art, design and art education.
