With a strong focus on behavioral science, students engage in hands-on lab research, internships, teaching assistantships, service learning, and our recently developed peer-mentor research program. Research, Data Analysis, & Visualization

As a psychology major, you will get hands-on experience with the scientific process from start to finish. Not only will you learn these skills in class, but you also have the opportunity to work alongside faculty and peers in undergraduate research labs. From collecting data, to analyzing data, to presenting and publishing the results you will gain a skill set marketable to employers and graduate schools.

Teaching Assistantships & Peer Mentorships

The Psychology Department offers a variety of opportunities to work side-by-side with faculty and peers in the classroom. We recruit teaching assistants for our large sections of Introduction to Psychology every semester, as well as supplemental instructors. In these roles, you will gain hands-on experience working with students, leading study sessions, and other activities. Additionally, you can be trained as a peer-mentor for our Research Methods and Statistics courses. This is a great way to polish your research skills in a way that will increase employment and graduate school marketability.

Internships & Community Service Learning

The Psychology Department offers a variety of opportunities for juniors and seniors to gain hands-on experience in their chosen career field prior to going into the workforce or applying to graduate school. Through partnerships with local, regional, and national employers, you have the opportunity to complete an internship and/or service-learning projects in a community setting.
