The Medieval Manuscript collection was donated recently by USI alumnus John Lawrence. The pieces displayed in this particular gallery are selected for their variety of content and origin. Included are Bible leaves printed in the 15th and 16th centuries in German, Latin and even Coptic. There are also a number of Persian poetry leaves and Kur'anic leaves from the same time.
The Japanese Art displayed at the Lawrence Library is from the collection of Michael Aakhus, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. The collection consists of 27 pieces in various media. Included are Japanese prints from a variety of famous artists, such as Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Kunisada. Also included are a number of traditional scrolls and robes.
