Global Vision: The Michael and Patricia Aakhus Collection exhibit is on display at the University of Southern Indiana's McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries from September 14 to October 23, 2016.
Avid travelers, Michael Aakhus, former dean of USI's College of Liberal Arts, and the late Patricia Aakhus, former director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies at USI, studied many diverse cultures around the globe and collected many exquisite objects from them. Artifacts from Asia, Africa and Central and South America make up the current exhibit, which features only part of the extensive collection.
The exhibit will close with a reception for Michael Aakhus from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, October 23 in the McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries. The public is cordially invited to attend, and light refreshments will be served. At 3 p.m. Professor Emeritus Michael Aakhus will make brief remarks about the exhibit and the collection.
The McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries, located in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Center on the USI campus, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
