The University of Southern Indiana Art and Design department presents the exhibition Converters: Work by Amanda Smith and Tonja Torgerson, on display Monday, June 10 through Friday, September 6 at the McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries on the USI campus. The exhibition features the creative work of two excellent, mid-career artists. Amanda Smith is a painter and assistant professor of art at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. Tonja Torgerson is a printmaker and visiting assistant professor at Indiana University. Smith and Torgerson’s subject matter and artmaking processes are very different from one another, but the visual contrast between well-crafted and conceptually focused bodies of work produces a persuasive show.
