Present Perfect 2021

Show poster: one image of art from each artist

August 23 to October 8, 2021

Present Perfect: A Showcase of Past Visiting Artists features the works of three artists who have given workshops to the students and the University of Southern Indiana previously but have not exhibited at the university before.

Martha Grover led a workshop at USI in fall of 2016. She is a functional potter living in Bethel Maine, making pieces that are exceptionally well crafted as well as functional.  Michael Nichols gave a workshop at USI in fall of 2017.  Primarily a figurative painter working in buon fresco painting, Mike lives in Bowling Green, Kentucky and is a professor at Wester Kentucky University. James R Southard gave a workshop at USI in fall of 2019. Creating groups of work that can vacillate the formal spectrum of documentary realism to assemblage, James works primarily in photography and digital media.  He is a senior lecturer at the University of Kentucky living in Lexington.  Each artist’s work occupies its own space with the McCutchan Art Center and Pace Galleries.

At 4:30pm on Thursday, September 9, Mike Nichols and Rob Southard will give short, back to back artist talks.  Their lectures will be held in the Dunn Lobby of the Performance Center, attached to the University Center East.
