Teams from southern Indiana middle and high schools will once again gather on the campus of the University of Southern Indiana (USI) for the annual Science Olympiad, scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026. Please remember, USI is on Central Time.

Participating schools will field teams of up to 15 students who will compete in 23 STEM events, covering almost all of the Indiana Science Standards. Some of this year's events will challenge students to build a helicopter, a boomilever, and a robot for demonstration. However, every event will require students to apply their existing scientific knowledge to the tasks at hand.

University of Southern Indiana students, faculty, staff, and community members will once again step up as event supervisors and volunteers for the Science Olympiad.

Since its inception in 1983, the annual Science Olympiad has become the premier STEM competition in the nation, with over 12,000 schools participating each year. For more information, you can refer to the links below or contact Dr. Allison Grabert, Director of the SwISTEM Resource Center at afgrabert@usi.edu.
