About Us

The Center for Applied Research (CAR) is located within Outreach and Engagement at the University of Southern Indiana. CAR serves as a front door for regional business and organizations to connect with University resources including faculty, staff, students, equipment, and facilities. CAR coordinates a wide variety of projects, ranging from economic impact research to engineering design. We specialize in helping community business and organizations with their specific challenges, creating additional opportunities to thrive and grow for future success. 

Applied Research

CAR provides a research arm to your existing organization, helping to provide the data, methods, answers, and recommendations your organization seeks to move forward. 

Innovation

Innovation is part of CAR DNA. Built upon the foundation of simplex, CAR combines facilitation services with expert faculty & staff, and State of the Art facilities, like the Applied Engineering Center, to assist organizations and communities apply innovation. Assistance can range from strategic process innovation, to start-up support, technology transfer, and idea commercialization. 

Regional Initiatives

CAR drives collaborations to mobilize resources around large-impact societal economic development initiatives which focus on the growth and development of local, regional, and statewide communities.
