Annual Social Work Conference

March 6, 2026

24th Annual Spring Social Work Conference:
Transforming Communities: Building Resilience for Tomorrow

Presented by the USI Social Work Department and the NASW Indiana Chapter.  The annual spring conference is more than just an opportunity to earn CE hours – it is designed for alumni, practitioners, students, and others to meet or reconnect with former classmates and colleagues.

Announcing 2026 Keynote:

"Navigating the Ethical Frontier - Maintaining Trust in an AI World"

Hank Cecil, MSW, will address five pillars of ethical AI, focusing on transparency, explainability, informed consent, privacy, and equity to prevent bias and discrimination. Through case studies in child welfare and predictive policing, and by examining regulatory frameworks, it offers strategies for embedding ethics from design to deployment. Ultimately, success will belong to those who create AI that fosters trust and advances justice, rather than merely speed or power.

“AI is like a teenager: brilliant but don’t leave unsupervised over the weekend”
       -Maximilian Vogel
