Program Description

This conference will equip respiratory therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals with the latest knowledge and skills to navigate the evolving respiratory care landscape and enhance interdisciplinary collaboration.

Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of this conference, participants will be able to:

Describe the role and impact of pulmonary disease navigation in improving patient outcomes.
Apply current evidence-based strategies to optimize COPD management, reduce exacerbations, and enhance patient care.
Explore advancements in sleep science and their implications for both patients and healthcare teams.
Demonstrate effective techniques for managing difficult airways to ensure safe and successful airway interventions.
Identify best practices in neonatal ventilation to improve respiratory outcomes in newborns.
Identify important issues in the practice of respiratory care.
Connect practitioners with evidence-based concepts for important issues and provide opportunity for collaboration.
Evaluate the benefits and limitations of implementing the COPD Navigator model within current clinical practice to enhance patient care and care coordination.

Target Audience

The target audience includes respiratory therapists, nurses, and other health professionals interested in respiratory issues.

Conference Presenters

Chandler Jones, MSHA, RRT, RRT-ACCS, RRT-NPS, CPFT, PDE

Chandler is a Pulmonary Disease Navigator at Novant Health, specializing in the management and education of patients with chronic pulmonary conditions while facilitating interdisciplinary care and discharge planning. As an adjunct instructor at Murray State University and the University of Southern Indiana, he teaches advanced respiratory care courses and develops academic content to prepare future respiratory therapists. With a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration and multiple respiratory care certifications, Chandler is dedicated to advancing pulmonary care through clinical practice, education, and research.

Raghav Gupta, MD, FCCP

Dr. Raghav Gupta is a Pulmonologist at Deaconess Health System and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine-Evansville. A certified MD Anderson Cancer Network physician, he has authored numerous articles on critical and pulmonary medicine. He serves as a reviewer and associate editor for pulmonary journals. Dr. Gupta received the Scholarship Award for COPD Readmission Prevention at the American Thoracic Society in 2017 and the Outstanding Research Award at SUNY Downstate Medical Center the same year.

Erin Parchman, MSRC, RRT, CPFT, AE-C

Erin is a graduate of Weber State University, and prior USAF. She obtained her Masters in Respiratory Education and currently holds her RRT, CPFT, and AE-C credentials. She has extensive experience in ICU and Trauma care, whole body health, and sleep medicine.

Bailey Rankin, DNP, APRN, AGACNP-BC, CCRN, CEN

Bailey is the Chair of the Graduate Nursing Program and the Track Coordinator for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) track at the University of Southern Indiana, where he also serve as an Assistant Professor of Nursing. In addition to academic leadership, he continues to practice clinically as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in Pulmonary and Critical Care at Deaconess Health Systems.

Steve Greubel, BS, RRT, NPS, C-NPT, AE-C

With 42 years of experience in the NICU, Steve is currently the clinical coordinator of respiratory therapy in the NICU and a member of the Neonatal Transport Team at St. Vincent Hospital for Women and Children. He is an adjunct instructor of neonatal and pediatric respiratory therapy at the University of Southern Indiana.

Mary Phillips, M.Ed.,RRT, RPFT, AE-C

Mary serves as the Chair and Assistant Professor of the Respiratory Therapy program at the University of Southern Indiana. She has 20 years experience in many areas of the profession, including acute care, disease management, home care, and asthma/COPD education.

The University of Southern Indiana designates this activity for 7.5 contact hours. CE hours will be available for Nurses, Physicians, Pharmacists, Social Workers, and Health Facility Administrators. CE hours will also be available for Indiana licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Mental Health Counselors, and Dental Professionals.
