Admission to the Dental Hygiene Program is determined through a selective process and is limited to 24 students each academic year. The student's grade point average in the required prerequisite courses determines the admission ranking. Candidates for the program must be eligible for dental hygiene licensure and capable of fulfilling clinical practice requirements.
Acceptance to the University of Southern Indiana.
Completion of prerequisite courses with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8 (4.0 scale).
Candidates for admission must be capable of fulfilling clinical practice requirements.

Courses to be taken after a student’s first full academic year at USI. Courses must be completed prior to beginning professional courses in the dental hygiene program but are not considered in the dental hygiene admission GPA.
Starting in the Fall 2023 Semester, BIOL 272 Medical Microbiology must be completed as a 4-hour course. This will immediately impact the upcoming application cycle for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Students who are accepted into the program will incur $8,000 of additional costs beyond tuition, textbooks and housing.
