Coming Soon: New Improvements

We are building new, cutting-edge spaces to shape the future of occupational therapy!

The Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions is embarking on a transformative expansion of the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Program with the development of two state-of-the-art classrooms. These spaces will feature the latest advancements in therapeutic equipment, adaptive tools and cutting-edge technology, allowing our students to gain hands-on experience in supporting individuals with a wide range of physical, cognitive and sensory challenges.

These classrooms will include:

  • Neuromuscular Re-education: Equipping our students to provide therapy for patients needing to regain muscle control and function
  • Climbing Wall Designed for Pediatric Therapy: Giving students unique opportunities to help children with motor planning, balance, and strength development in a fun, interactive way
  • Driving Simulation System: A crucial resource for students working with patients needing to regain the skills necessary to return to independent driving safely

  • Dedicated Clinic Space: Where students can practice assessments and treatments with the latest therapeutic tools.
  • Apartment Setup: To simulate activities of daily living, so students can work with patients in a real-world environment, helping them safely transition back to home life.
  • Splinting Pans for Orthotic Fabrication: For our orthotics and hand therapy-focused students to learn how to create custom devices to support functional movement and recovery

These spaces will offer our students the best possible environment to grow, learn, and hone the skills necessary to become compassionate and competent OTAs. By integrating the latest technologies and diverse therapeutic tools, we are creating a learning environment that will help them thrive in any healthcare setting they enter.

This expansion reflects our commitment to staying at the forefront of healthcare education. It’s about creating opportunities for students to innovate and collaborate, preparing them for the ever-evolving field of occupational therapy.
