Student Organizations

FNSO is a student organization open to any USI student majoring, minoring, or interested in Food and Nutrition.

The goals of the organization are:

  • To promote Food and Nutrition as a major at the University.
  • To help students meet people in the food and nutrition fields.
  • To promote nutrition improvement in the community through volunteer service projects.

Southern Roots LogoThe aim of Southern Roots Student Growers is to introduce growing practices to students and show students that growing food can be simple, fun, and lead to healthier living. The organization also aims to educate students on the importance of sustainable agriculture for the future of food.  Skills and knowledge learned through the organization will hopefully be applied later in life, after graduation of its members.
